NOTE: A reader on my other blog, The Road to Concord, asked me why I always cite the definitions of the words I use in my posts.  I explained to him that, as a matter of sound reasoning, we should always do this: it serves to make sure everyone following the discussion has a better chance of sharing the same understanding of what is meant by the terms used.  But I also told the reader that – sadly – I have found it is necessary for nothing more than the simple fact that too few Americans actually know what the words they use actually mean.  This got me to thinking that I shouldn’t define fewer words, but more.  In fact, I have decided to dedicate an entire series of posts to this subject as it relates to the issues of our day.  This is the first in this new series. Why We Continue to Fail in Our Attempts to Arrest the Destruction of America

As I continue to pursue my self-education into the founding of this nation, I grow more and more frustrated with those Americans who profess to embrace and support the principles and ideal upon which this nation was founded, and to which it owes the fact that it has survived for so long.  I grow frustrated because the founders were not only clear and assertive in stating and explaining them to us, they were mindful that they were speaking to us.  Jefferson actually encouraged the people of the time – especially those who were leaders – to save every scrap of documentation that could be found so as to preserve the most complete record of what they were trying to do for posterity.  That posterity is us, and those founders were not only diligent in preserving that history for us, they were successful.  What they believed and why is everywhere to be found – if we but bother to look for it.  Yet, if we look, we must look to those original sources.  We can no longer trust the history books of our day as their authors willingly and deliberately lie.  And it is when – and not until – we actually read the history our founders left us that we discover the missing element that has stood in our way of arresting the destruction of our nation. As I am sure many do this at this time, I have been reflecting on the year that just passed and I found myself thinking about the ‘war on the rich.’  I have been trying harder to read the Bible for myself, and to seek God’s guidance and His wisdom so I can properly understand His word so I can better live it in my daily life.  I want to want the things that God wants; the things He wants for me – for each of us.  So, naturally, I started to look at what Scripture has to say about wealth.  What I discovered Scripture actually says about the issue is far from what the world would have people think it says. I want to be up front with you: this post is primarily intended for fellow Christians.   However, as this post deals with a spirit or tendency in all humans, it may well prove as or even more useful for those who do not share my faith.  So I offer it to all for whatever they get from it, individually.

I was thinking about the recent flap over the Phil Robertson flap.  I was trying to figure out exactly what is behind it, and I found that I kept coming back to the cliché, “You can’t legislate morality.”  So I started to think about what these words really mean; about the idea and intention behind their use.  And that reminded me of a book I read by Jonah Goldberg, “The Tyranny of Clichés: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas.”  In his book, Goldberg argues that clichés have become a device to shut down discussion and debate, and I happen to agree with him.  “You can’t legislate morality” is one of the ways people avoid having to deal with the issue of morality. I have a confession to make: until last night, I had never seen “The Sound of Music.”  My wife taped the recent live performance of this musical and I finally agreed to watch it with her last night.  I had heard the criticism about the lead not comparing to the original and all the normal complaining that normally circulates around remakes of beloved classics, so I was not sure I should be watching this version as opposed to the original. I went into watching it with this frame of mind.  However, as the show progressed, I was soon struck by something more important: people have totally missed the warning in this play!  It speaks to us, today, and it demonstrates that the warning from its day is still as relevant today – and no one seems to see it or care.  No wonder history is repeating! Where does this notion come from: the idea that poverty can be eliminated?  What form of insanity creates this sort of delusion?  And I say insanity because that is the only way to define the belief that such delusions are an achievable reality.  They are not.  By definition, poverty can never be eliminated, and I will happily explain – nay – prove this to be true. But You Did Not Listen Because You Did Not Think They Meant It

People have been warning about financial collapse for some time.  In fact, I do not remember a time in my life when someone was not trying to gain attention by making some sort of claim about a coming financial catastrophe.  If it never seems to happen, people eventually start to ignore those who try to warn them.  It is the “Boy who cried wolf” syndrome.  Unfortunately, the majority of us are woefully ignorant about financial matters.  If we weren’t, we would know that there have been people who have established a very solid record of predicting such things, and some of these same people have been trying to warn us about something the world has never seen for some time now. Being ‘Poor’ Is A Choice, and Often A Missed Or Ignored Blessing

I haven’t had much time to post lately because I have been busy in my shop, filling orders for my customers.  But this is a blessing.  In fact, it is one of many.  You see, it was while I was working late into the night to serve my customers that things started to come together for me.  I should have realized all of this long, long ago, but I can be a slow learner.  In fact, I can be downright stubborn at times.  Still, I found an understanding of the battle over poverty that I would like to share with you. However, before I do, I need to warn you: this may not be an easy series for many people to read because what I have to say is going to run counter to what many of us believe.  But that’s OK, just so long as you do me a favor.  If these next few posts anger you, step back and take a long, hard, honest look at why before you attack me for what I am about to say.

The Pope Is NOT On Sound Scriptural Grounds In His Attack Against Capitalism

I understand this will be a contentious post, so I want to make a few things known.  I was raised Catholic.  As soon as I was old enough to make my own choices, I left the Catholic Church – much for the very reason I am now writing.  That said, I am not trying to attack the Pope or Catholics.  I believe there are many good, faithful and saved people in the Catholic Church.  However, I have grave concerns with the leadership of the Church.  To me, the leadership of the Catholic Church is little different in spirit than the Pharisees and Sadducees were when Christ was ministering to Israel.  So it is from this perspective that I now offer a strong word of caution to my Catholic friends over this story:

And All Forms Of The Collective Fail Because Of This: They Mirror Original Sin

It doesn’t matter what name it goes by – Marxism, Fascism, Socialism, Progressivism – all forms of the Collective are intended to glorify their architect.  Most often, whoever it is that dreams up their ideal society also has in mind to be its ruler.  But, even if it is co-opted, those who rule over a Collectivist utopia have a nearly universal tendency to see themselves as above the people they rule.  In this sense, the Collective is intended to glorify its ruler.  The origins of this desire go way back.

Have you heard the stories about how Obamacare mandates that men must be covered for maternity care and post-menopausal women must have birth control?  Have you heard the health insurance companies claiming that this is partially responsible for the spikes in insurance rates?  Well, I don’t want to sound like I am trying to beat-up on the insurance companies here because I am a business owner, myself.  However, if I am going to call government out when it lies, then I am going to point the same finger of logic at the private sector when it tells stories.  It’s the only way I know how to be.

But He Most Certainly Is Working For The Spirit Of The Anti-Christ

I am not an expert on Biblical prophecy.  At best, I am slightly more informed than the average Christian.  Nor am I an expert on Islamic prophecy.  However, where Islam and end times prophecy are concerned, I have discovered that I am far more informed than the average Christian – let alone the average American.  And it is because I have been trying to learn and understand both that I see a definite connection between this nation, Israel and the end times.  It is also why I know – know beyond any doubt – that Obama and the people around him are working on the side of the Anti-Christ.
