FOR TRUTH SEEKERS ONLY: What Muhammad Actually Said About ‘Muhammad’

This post is intended for the education of those who seek the Truth — no matter what that Truth may be.  It is wholly unsuited for those who seek to believe in lies.

This post is written mostly for Christians and those who understand Biblical teaching.  However, I have added editorial comments and citations to help explain the basics for those who may not be familiar with Scripture.  So, why should Christians bother studying Islam?  Well, aside from needing to know about Islam so we will be better equipped to share the Gospel with them — the true Gospel — we need to know and understand what Islam is.  In this case…  Well, just read.  I think you might be shocked by what you’ll discover this time.

Note: passages in red are from the Qur’an; those in black are from the Sunnah (customs and sayings of Muhammad), the second holiest book in Islam and absolutely necessary to make a religion out of the Qur’an.

OK, this is a bit more complicated than previous posts in this series.  Let’s start by granting that Muhammad claimed Allah is the only god, and that he has no ‘partners.’  Now, by saying Allah has no ‘partners,’ Muhammad is rejecting the Trinity.  ‘Partners’ is Muhammad’s way of referring to the Holy Spirit and, most of all, Jesus as the Son of God.  So we will accept that — according to Muhammad — Allah is the only god and he has no ‘partners.’

Next, enter the Islamic ‘holy spirit.’  Muhammad refers to this figure throughout the Qur’an and Hadith.  Here are just a few references to the Islamic ‘holy spirit:’

Qur’an 32:9

But He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him something of His spirit. And He gave you (the faculties of) hearing and sight and feeling (and understanding): little thanks do ye give!

Qur’an 38:72

“When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him.”

Qur’an 21:91

And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.

Now, according to Islam, the ‘holy spirit’ is not Allah, but an angel who acts as a ‘helper’ who can go from heaven to earth and back again.  Also according to the Qur’an, Allah and Allah alone can create (Qur’an 32:4).  This immediately creates a contradiction.  If Allah is the one and only god, and Allah has no partners, and Allah alone creates, then how is it that the Qur’an speaks of the ‘holy spirit’ as being a partner in creation?  Additionally, it is interesting to note that many of the ‘recitations’ Muhammad received from Allah speak in terms of ‘We,’ as in ‘Allah and Muhammad.’

[NOTE: The Bible teaches that there is One True God, but He presents Himself in three forms — much as we think of our self as one person with a body, mind and soul.  Scripture also teaches that God creates with the Holy Spirit through Christ, and that it is Christ who sustains all things.]

Now, at the time Muhammad was teaching these things, people did question him, pointing out that he was contradicting himself.  However, Muhammad always responded with a new ‘recitation’ from Allah pointing to the things Muhammad had already said as ‘proof’ that Muhammad was correct and the others were wrong.  When pressed further, Muhammad would respond with a ‘recitation’ saying that his questioners either do not understand the clear truth Muhammad was teaching, or that Allah did not make it totally clear because he did not wish to.

None of this can be properly understood without first reading Muhammad’s official biography, then getting the Qur’an in proper chronological order.  When we do this, we can see that some of the passages in the Qur’an were given in direct response to what was going on in Muhammad’s life, personally.  For example, when people started to question and insult him, he said Allah gave him these ‘recitations:’

Qur’an 49:4

“Those who shout out to you from behind the private apartments have no sense.”

Qur’an 2:104

“You of Faith, say not (to the Prophet) words of ambiguous import like ‘Listen to us,’ but words of respect; and obey (him): To those who don’t submit there is a grievous punishment.”

Qur’an 33:57

“Those who speak negatively of Allah and His Apostle shall be cursed.”

Qur’an 108:3

“For he who insults you (Muhammad) will be cut off [killed].”

Bukhari:V5B58N193

“The Prophet cursed those that had teased him. He said, ‘O Allah! Destroy the chiefs of Quraysh, Abu Jahl, Utba, Shaba, Umaiya, and Ubai.’ I saw these people killed on the day of Badr battle and thrown in the pit except Ubai whose body parts were mutilated.”

[NOTE: Jesus said that a person could insult Him, the Son, and still be forgiven by the Father.]

Next, let’s consider some of Muhammad’s commands as far as obeying him and obeying Allah:

Qur’an 33:36

“No Muslim has any choice after Allah and His Apostle have decided a matter.”

Qur’an 4:80

“He who obeys the Messenger obeys Allah.”

Qur’an 48:10

“Verily those who swear allegiance to you (Muhammad), indeed swear their allegiance to Allah.”

Qur’an 4:114

“He who disobeys the Apostle after guidance has been revealed will burn in Hell.”

Ishaq:205

“‘If you are loyal to this undertaking it will profit you in this world and the next.’ They said, ‘We will accept you as a Prophet under these conditions, but we want to know specifically what we will get in return for our loyalty.’ Muhammad said, ‘I promise you Paradise.'”

Ishaq:182

“When we arrived at the Temple in Jerusalem, we found Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, along with a company of prophets. I acted as their imam in prayer.”

Bukhari:V1B2N14

“The Prophet said, ‘None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.'”

Ishaq:553

“The people assembled in Mecca to swear allegiance to the Messenger in submission. They gathered to do homage to the Apostle in Islam. Umar remained below the Prophet, lower than the place where he sat, imposing conditions on the people as they paid homage [reverence] to Muhammad, promising to submit and obey. Umar administered the oath, receiving from the Meccans their pledge of allegiance to Muhammad. They promised to heed and obey Allah and His Messenger.”

Bukhari:V9B92N384

“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me will not enter it.'”

So, according to Muhammad, he and Allah are one — at least so far as Allah’s commands are concerned.  It would seem that the connection is such that getting to heaven is directly linked to obeying Muhammad.

[NOTE: Bible prophets make no such claims.  Instead, they always point to God and God’s Law/Commandments as the source of their authority, never to themselves.  Even Jesus pointed to the father and the Father’s Commandments.  However, Jesus also claimed God’s Authority in His own Words, as well.]

But here is one of the most telling aspects of Islam:

Qur’an 33:56

Allah sends His Salat on the Prophet (Muhammad) and also His angels too. O you who believe! Send your Salat on him (Muhammad), and  greet him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. As-Salamu ‘Alaikum).

Now, this last passage is interesting, and it is one we need to pay close attention to because it is an area where Muslims either do not understand their own teachings, or they lie by omission (kitman).  In the phrase we always hear Muslims utter after they say Muhammad’s name, and here in Qur’an 33:56, we find the word ‘salat,‘ or ‘salla‘ [a derivative of the same word dealing with singular and plural applications].  It is often translated as ‘blessings,’ but this is not what it means.  The word actually means ‘supplications’ — prayers!  Properly translated, this means Allah prays to Muhammad!

[NOTE: In the Bible, every time a person tries to pray or worship a figure other than God, they are corrected, such as when the angels tell people not to worship them.  However, when Christ was worshiped, He accepted it — because He is God.]

And an interesting passage from the Hadith:

Bukhari:V4B56N732

“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have five names: I am Muhammad and Ahmad, the praised one; I am al-Mahi through whom Allah will eliminate infidelity; I am al-Hashir who will be the first to be resurrected; and I am also al-Aqib, because there will be no prophet after me.'”

[NOTE: The Bible says that Jesus is to be Praised; that Jesus will restore man, thus ending the breech between God and man; Christ is the first resurrected; and Christ is the cap-stone — the last of the prophets as well as the Highest Priest.]

While it is specifically rejected, if one reads the Qur’an and Hadith, one will see an implied trinity in Islam.  This is the very definition of ‘antichrist,’ as defined by the Apostle, John.  But there is another aspect of Islam to be found in the Qur’an that Christians should immediately recognize.  The Qur’an says this about Allah:

Qur’an 32:2

(This is) the Revelation of the Book in which there is no doubt – from the Lord of the Worlds.

Qur’an 26:192

Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds:

For those who do not immediately understand the implication, the Bible calls Satan “The Lord of This World.”
