Repeating History: Obama, the EPA and Congress

Learning to Recognize and Understand the Spirit behind an Agenda:

Obama, the EPA and Congress

I readily admit that I have a world view that leads me to see the repeating cycles of history as being somehow connected to the spirits that drive human action.  Whatever others may call it, or however they may describe it, there can be no doubt that these repeating cycles are real.  And, though the specifics manner in which these repetitions occur may differ with each cycle, the ultimate goal and the tactics employed tend to remain the same.  Whether people want to admit it or not, good and evil can believe they are working toward the same goal.  In such a case, the only thing that separates them is how they go about achieving those goals.  Therefore, we must learn to recognize and understand these goals and tactics and test them to determine whether they are in keeping with Natural Law.  Once we can do this, we will be better able to determine whether a given agenda works toward good, or evil.  Here is one example of what I mean by goals and tactics:

On climate change, Obama, EPA plan action without Congress

BOULDER, Colo. | EPA chief Gina McCarthy said Wednesday that the Obama administration is finished waiting for Congress to act on climate change and plans to bypass the legislative branch in developing a federal response.

Now, this is not news to those of us who pay attention to American politics.  We are already aware that Obama and the people in his Administration have repeatedly called for and said they will go around or bypass Congress if Congress doesn’t do what they want done.  For those who are not aware of this, a simple search of the internet will reveal hundreds of stories about this.  YouTube has many video clips of Obama saying words to this effect.

But those who are not aware that Obama has said this are the ignorant among us: we still have a chance to educate them so that they may wake up and realize the threat in these words.  It is the people who have heard these words and do not see the threat who give the threat its power and make it into a real and present danger to individual rights and liberty.  Now, I’d like to think those who have heard these words and did not recognize them as a threat do not see the threat because they are ignorant of history, and of the principles of Natural Law.  In that case, we have hope for them, as well.  Sadly, I fear that this is not the case.  Too many of these people have been made aware of history and the principles of Natural Law and still they choose not to see the threat.  Those people are standing on the side of evil.

Now, why do I say that the President’s words represent evil?  After all, he’s just trying to help people, right?  Well, no, he isn’t, but that is the subject for another post.  What I want to focus on here is the spirit behind what he is advocating: going around Congress.  Read and carefully consider these words to see if they don’t sound strikingly similar to those of the President and the people he has placed around him:

“…is talking itself to death. The people do not know what they want; they do not know what is the best for them. There is too much foolishness, too much lost motion. I have stopped the talk and the nonsense. I am a man of action.”

Essentially, this is what Obama is saying through his people at the EPA: Congress does not know what is best for the nation (and the world).  Therefore, Obama must act without them so as to save the nation (and the world).  Implicit in the quote I cited and the statement from Obama’s EPA is that they both know better than the people what is best for them, and that they alone are capable of doing what must be done for the people.  Therefore, they have a moral imperative to save the people from themselves – even if it means breaking the law and trampling on individual rights and liberty.  In this case, Obama is violating the Social Contract that is our Constitution, his oath to uphold it and trampling the individual rights of every citizen in this nation subject to that Social Contract.  In other words, Obama is violating Natural Law and trampling on the principles of individual rights and liberty.

Now, I didn’t tell you who said those words I quoted on purpose.  I didn’t even cite the entire quote, because I wanted you to look at what the words are saying; at the motivation behind them – the spirit.  I wanted you to see and understand that they contain the same motivation – the same spirit – as that expressed by Obama and his people: the assumption that they know better than the people who elected them, and that this gives them the moral authority to break the law and act on their own to ‘save the people from themselves.’  Now, here is the full quote, as well as the name of the man who said those words.  I’ll leave you to recognize the significance as the similarities between his words and Obama, as well as the determination of where good and evil lie:

Democracy is talking itself to death. The people do not know what they want; they do not know what is the best for them. There is too much foolishness, too much lost motion. I have stopped the talk and the nonsense. I am a man of action. Democracy is beautiful in theory; in practice it is a fallacy. You in America will see that some day.

  1. Superb Analysis.

Benny Mussolini channeling his inner Nietzsche with his “man of action” reference perfectly captures the essence of Fascism then and the connection to Fascism in our U. S. Leaders today.
