I have often wondered why people who have been shown to be liars are so often given a pass while those who try to speak the truth are attacked and destroyed — even if people have to lie about them to do it. I think I have finally found an answer to this question, but it will not sit well with a growing part of our population. The answer is simple, and it is found in the Scriptures:
Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
I have thought about this a lot and it seems to be true: those who seek to have their own way in this world never seem to suffer for their wrongs (unless they cross more powerful people who are also seeking their own way). At the same time, those who seek to submit to and obey God and His Laws are attacked at every little perceived wrong in those Laws. IN other words: those who seek God seek the Truth, but those who seek themselves do not — they reject the Truth. Scripture explains this, too:
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
Essentially, Christ told us that the world — those who reject God and God’s Law — will not hear Him or obey Him because He is truth. Instead, the world rejects God and Truth.
But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
So, let’s come back to all of those people who lie, steal, cheat, deceive and trample on others and are never held accountable for their actions. Why can they do the things they do and never be attacked or destroyed for their hypocrisy? Because this world belongs to those who have rejected God: to Satan and to those who follow him. It belongs to people who seek themselves instead of God: to people who have elevated themselves to the Throne of God and — in their hearts — declared themselves to be God by thinking they can re-write God’s Laws. Of these people, Jesus said:
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
This is why people who lie, steal, cheat and deceive are never attacked for their hypocrisy: because the world sees them as belonging to the ruler of this world. Since they follow the father of lies, the world accepts them and ignores their actions. But when those who are not of this world stumble, the world takes advantage of the moment as a means of attacking God. Jesus explained it this to His people this way:
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.
It is that simple, but only those who belong to God will see and understand this.
