Islam Cannot be Reformed

To ‘reform‘ means to amend or improve by correcting faults.

The Protestant Reformation was an attempt to break from the apostasy created by the Catholic Church (sorry, Catholics, but the Protestants were correct.  The Catholic church is currently in a state of apostasy.  And I say that as someone who was raised Catholic).  The Protestant leaders realized that the Christian faith had been perverted, and that it was no longer teaching the Gospel as Christ taught it.  The Protestants sought to return to the original Gospel of Christ, and to live according to the Gospel in the same way as the original Church did.  This is why it can be called a reformation: because the Protestants were returning to the original teachings of Jesus Christ. However, this is not possible with Islam because the ‘terrorists’ are already living according to the teachings and example of Muhammad!  therefore, there is no ‘fault’ in the Muslims we call ‘radicals.’  They are living Islam the same way Muhammad did, and since Muhammad commanded that anyone who tries to change Islam should be killed, there can be no ‘reform.’

Muhammad was a cult leader, and as with all cult leaders, he created rules that prevent his followers from changing his commands.  According to Muhammad, anyone who tries to change anything he said or commanded is an apostate and should be killed immediately.  So, any attempt to ‘reform’ Islam would be met with violence from those fundamentalists trying to live by Muhammad’s commands.  Here is some of what Muhammad had to say about obeying his commands:

Qur’an 33:36

“No Muslim has any choice after Allah and His Apostle have decided a matter.”

Qur’an 4:80

“He who obeys the Messenger obeys Allah.”

Qur’an 48:10

“Verily those who swear allegiance to you (Muhammad), indeed swear their allegiance to Allah.”

Qur’an 4:114

“He who disobeys the Apostle after guidance has been revealed will burn in Hell.”

Bukhari:V9B88N174

“I heard the Prophet saying, ‘Islam cannot change!'”

And for those who refused to obey, or who tried to change or even leave Islam, Muhammad had this to say:

Qur’an 4:90

“If they turn back from Islam, becoming renegades, seize them and kill them wherever you find them.”

Bukhari:V4B52N260

“The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.’”

This also explains why we never see ‘moderate’ Muslims standing up to oppose the ‘radical terrorists.’  If they did, they would be killed.  It also explains why the ignorance and arrogance of the West does not understand why the ‘radical Muslims’ kill other Muslims.  It is because, according to Muhammad, the ones being killed are not Muslims at all.  This problem is further complicated by the Sunni/Shi’a rift, where both sides consider the other to be apostates.  And so, we see Sunnis and Shi’as killing each other for the same reason: they believe they are obeying Muhammad’s commands to kill apostates.

This is why Islam cannot be reformed: because, if you believe Allah is god, then you have been commanded to obey Muhammad, and Muhammad commanded Muslims to kill anyone who tries to change Islam — period.
